Comprehensive Financial Planning
Financial planning is an extremely collaborative process. We start by discussing your goals, dreams and objectives for the rest of your financial life. We'll review all major financial topics that create your rock-solid financial foundation from which you'll realize your objectives. This comprehensive process is, by far, the best way to enhance your financial journey.
We’ll cover the following areas (and any others you desire)
-
Your cash flow including debt and savings
-
Workplace benefits
-
Risk management – i.e. your insurance needs
-
Investments
-
Education planning
-
Retirement planning (before and during retirement)
-
Charitable Giving
-
Estate Planning
The Process
In a complementary first meeting we’ll discuss your goals, the process and costs for your desired services. We'll mutually determine if we're a good match to work together. Most meetings are held virtually but I am also available for in-person meetings.
Data Gathering – You’ll supply information, via secure link, on all your relevant financial data.
I prepare a financial plan that projects your financial flows and resources over the rest of your life. The plan shows a probability score that you’ll have enough to fund all of your goals and suggests course corrections if needed.
Depending on the complexity of your situation, we’ll meet once or twice to review the projections.
Most importantly, we mutually develop a list of steps for you to take to assure that the planning exercise stays on target.
Follow-up meetings – one or two months later we meet to discuss your progress and assess what additional actions or information is needed. Additional follow-up sessions can be scheduled at your request.
I recommend that the planning process be repeated within a year or two to assure you’re on track and to integrate the inevitable changes that occur in your life and your goals.
To quote legendary baseball player Yogi Berra, “If you don’t know where you’re going, you might not get there.”
Compensation & Documentation
The cost of such an engagement depends on the complexity of your situation and is based on an hourly rate of $200/hour. A less complex plan might require only 5 to 6 hours while a more complex plan, presentation and follow-up might require 10-12 hours of work.
After our complementary session, I will provide you with a formal quote and contract that lays out the scope of our agreement. Should you later wish to expand the scope of the agreement, the hourly fee would apply and an updated agreement would be entered into.
Payment is expected as 50% upon a signed agreement and the balance on completion of the first plan presentation. Payment by check, credit card or direct debit is possible.
